Supported Opencart/vQmod Versions
Opencart v1.5.x, vQmod v2.4.1

What does this extension do?

Backend (Admin) Features

Visitor Tracker - Track the following information about your visitors:
* Logs the checkout ajax requests. This is most useful to determine where your visitors stop the checkout process if they do not complete checking out. If they are stopping at your shipping step, maybe you need to adjust your shipping charges
* Two versions available:
1) Local IP Geolocation Database (17MB file) - Visitor location is provided by a local database instead of a remote call. Speeds up your frontend access for your customers because Visitor Tracker doesn't have to rely on a remote site for geolocation services
2) Remote IP Geolocation Database - depending on the connection speed to the remote site, this version could slow down your frontend access for your customers
* IP Address
* Host name
* Location (City, State, Country)
* Date and Time of Visit
* Language
* Operating System (including mobile phones)
* Browser used (including mobile browsers)
* Total number of visits
* Total number of pages viewed
* Total time spent on site (last visit)
* Total time spent on site (all visits)
* Site that referred them to your store (if any)
* Query string (if any) - revamped to offer more informative information regarding page, product, category viewed and checkout process
* Delete information from the database by IP address
* Import data from previous version database tables
* Flush data from current database tables (Reset Visitor Tracker tables)
* Add/Remove ip addresses to exclude from tracking statistics
* Add/Remove bot names to exclude from tracking statistics using the remote host string for the bot/crawler (only a partial remote host string is needed and recommended)
* Set the idle time for online visitors to not be shown as online - defaults to 300 seconds (5 minutes)
* Set UTC Timezone offset so SQL server will match your timezone (only needed if your SQL server is on a different timezone)
* Exclude IP addresses from showing up in your visitor statistics. You can exclude a single IP address, multiple IP addresses, or a range of IP addresses
* Ban IP addresses from accessing your store. You can ban a single IP address, multiple IP addresses, or a range of IP addresses

Who is Online - See who is currently browsing your store
* Bot, Guest or Customer (shows name if registered customer)
* View shopping carts if they have anything in it (registered customers and guests)
* Shows the time since their last click
* Automatically removes online visitors after 5 minutes (300 seconds) of idle time

Abandoned Cart - See if any of your customers/guests left items in their cart
* View the contents of your customers and guests abandoned cart including product options, prices, and cart totals
* Email customer (not guests) directly from the abandoned cart window

Visitor Geolocation Map - Based on Google Maps v3
* See a visual representation of where your visitors are from
* Set the # of recent visitors to map on the settings page (default is 40, range is 10-80)

Visitor Statistics - See certain site statistics based on your visitors activity
* See a breakdown of the number of bots, guests, and customers that have visited your site for the current day, yesterday, current week, current month, current year, and last year
* See Top 10 Visitors by Country including total number of visitors from that country and the percentage of overall visits (excludes bots)
* See the Top 10 viewed products for your site
* See the Top 10 browsers used to view your site
* See the Top 10 operating systems used
* See your visitor to sale conversion rate

Frontend (Store) Features

Visitor Counter -
* Visitor counter on your storefront
* Set layout, position (left or right), enable or disable the counter, sort order
* Shows number of visitors online currently
* Set the following options:
- Total # of visitors for today, yesterday, week, month, and/or year
- Set the label and text colors
- Set whether images are displayed or not
* Optional, does not have to be installed for the Visitor Tracker to work

** Supports vQmod only. Manual installation instructions are no longer available **

1) Copy/Upload the contents of the upload folder to your Opencart store root
folder. No Opencart files are overwritten.

2) *** IMPORTANT ***
Open the Report, Visitor Tracker to create the tables. They are automatically
created the first time you open the Visitor Tracker report. If you don't do this,
Visitor Tracker will not start to collect stats. I have included a vtracker_db.sql
file that shows the table structures.

3) Go to Users, User Group and edit the Top Administrator group. Check the
checkboxes for access and modify for report/tracker and module/tracker_counter.

2) Updated the GeoIP database to the latest version
3) Updated the OS, Browser, and Bot database to the latest version

1) Fix for "Undefined index: totals"

November 17, 2012 - v2.8.4
- Changed "Total Unique Visitors" on Who is online box to unique visitors excluding bots
- Changed the Conversion calculations to include only orders since the installation of Visitor Tracker or following
a reset of the Visitor Tracker tables
- New field added to the vtracker_main table. Be sure to run Visitor Tracker after upgrading in order to create this
new field or the frontend will not work
- Updated UASdata.ini (bot detection) database and GeoIP location database

October 11, 2012 - v2.8.3
- Updated to the latest release of the uasdata.ini file - used for bot and user-agent string lookups. This affects
browser, operating system, and bot detection routines in Visitor Tracker
- Updated to the latest release of the local geolocation IP database file
- Fixed issue with Google Map not loading properly

July 20, 2012 - v2.8.2
- Added a button to purge bot history data
- Fixed some notices that were logged in the error log if someone that you have on the "excluded" list visited
your site. Some "undefined index: id" messages were being logged. These have been corrected
- Changed the referrer link back to the previous usage. If you click the link, it takes you to the page instead
of popping up the query string
- Went through and made sure all INSERT and UPDATE query commands were being properly escaped for database entry
- Fixed the Exclude Bots from Logging function which was not working properly
- Fixed the Top 10 lists to not include browser, os, or country statistics from web crawlers/bots

July 16, 2012 - v2.8.1
- Added ability to exclude or ban IP addresses by using an IP range. Valid range formats are:
132.*, 210.120.*, 150.172.10.*, or
If you want to ban a larger range, use the * format. If you only want to ban a few IP's within a
certain range, use the - format. The - format will only work for smaller ranges (where the last
octet is different). The first three octets of the - format must be the same or it will not work
- Added an action link to exclude an IP address from showing up in the Visitor Details section
- Added a new setting on the settings page to Optimize your Visitor Tracker tables (keeps tables from becoming
fragmented and slow)
- History for an IP address will be removed by default when banning or excluding that IP address
- Changed the Visitor Details look/layout
- Removed the changes that hid the referrer site if it was your site URL. I wasn't thinking about multi-store
sites and how useful that is for determining which storefront was viewed
- For more geolocation accuracy, I have added the remote call back to the local ip database version. If the city
is not determined from the local IP database lookup, a remote call will be made to try and determine the
location of the visitor. A remote call WILL ONLY be made if the city is not determined. This is only for the
local IP database version of Visitor Tracker. All IP lookups are done remotely in the version without the
local IP database
- Fixed the frontend Visitor Counter layout issues

July 10, 2012 - v2.8.0
- Added some additional bots that were not being detected by the UASParser script (notably Fatlens and RuleSpace)
- Added functionality to log the steps of the checkout. In the history view section, each step of the checkout
will be logged clearly so you can see exactly where your visitor stopped during checkout if they do not complete
the checkout process
- Added 2 new buttons for clearing abandoned carts. You now have the option to 'Clear All Cart', 'Clear Guest Carts',
or 'Clear Customer Carts'. Moved buttons to the Abandoned Cart window
- Query string section on the visitor history page has been completely re-designed. The information provided is
much more informative showing the category, product, or page viewed instead of cryptic query string messages.
- Referrer section on the visitor history page has been re-designed as well. Your site will be excluded from
the list so you can concentrate on external sites that refer visitors to your site. Click on the link to view
the query the visitor used on the referrer's site to get to your site
- Abandoned carts will now be sorted by date abandoned, most recent listed at the top of the list
- Fixed issue with customer names that had special characters in them which caused an error when being saved to
the database

July 8, 2012 - v2.7.3
- Updated the UASparser local database for bot, os, and browser detection
- Updated the local IP database for IP Geolocation services

April 21, 2012 - v2.7.2
- Added location to the Who's Online box on the main Visitor Tracker screen
- Moved the IP geolocation services local to Visitor Tracker instead of making an external call. Now Visitor Tracker
doesn't have to rely on the external site being up or being slow. I am keeping the other version for people that
do not want a 16MB file on their server which is the drawback to going this route.

April 18, 2012 - v2.7.1
- Added "Content Bottom" position for the Visitor Counter module so you can display horizontally instead of in one
of the columns (left or right) vertically
- Fixed an issue with gethostbyaddr if more than one IP address was included for a visitor
- Fixed an issue with the Abandoned Cart if a product no longer existed, it would log errors for name, model, and price
- Fixed an SQL statement where deleting from the vtracker_cart table caused an "invalid column ip" error. The SQL statement
was wrong and has been corrected

April 4, 2012 - v2.7.0
- Re-wrote the entire frontend routine to help improve performance and cut down on memory
usage. Removed almost all of the session variables that were being set
- Improved the bot, operating system, and browser detection routine
- Added IP address to the Abandoned Cart popup (requested by several users)
- Changed layout of the Visitor Detail section to make it easier to read
- Fixed the visitor/bot/customer counts for the Visitor Statistics section - the counts counting Guests and not
both Guests/Visitors

March 29, 2012 - v2.6.9.3
- Removed the need to download the database for OS/Browser/Bot detection from the remote site.
I will be providing the updates to this file from now on. The "file_get_contents" errors
should go away now and Visitor Tracker should not "slow" down trying to contact this
external site

March 12, 2012 - v2.6.9.2
- Fixed issue with selecting "All" for number of visitors to show causing an SQL query error
- Fixed an issue with the abandoned carts. If a product in an abandoned cart was removed from
your store, you would get several undefined index notices in the error log. That has been

March 8, 2012 - v2.6.9.1
- Updated to work with Opencart version 1.5.2.x
- Fixed an issue if IP address from visitor is being forwarded on your servers. If this were the
case, everyone would show up as the same IP address in Visitor Tracker and you would only see
one visitor.

February 19, 2012 - v2.6.9
- Fixed the Time on Site calculations. Visitor Tracker used to calculate the time on site based on
the first visit and last visit for the day. However, if a customer visited the site more than
once in a day, it would calculate the total time based on that. So if a customer visited in the
morning and then again at night, it would show them as being on for many hours. Now it will use
the last visit and based on your setting for the idle timeout, determine the time for the last
visit for that day only and not use the morning visit.
- Added Total Time on Site for all visits
- Added ability to disable the Geolocation Map, Visitor Statistics, and/or Visitor Details sections.
Now you can Show, Hide, or Disable. The differences are:

- Show: The contents of the box are loaded and shown

- Hide: The contents of the box are loaded, but only the header bar will be visible until you click
on Show

- Disable: The contents of the box are not loaded and nothing will be shown for that section
including the header bar

February 9, 2012 - v2.6.8
- Fixed two SQL query issues that was giving an sql query error when Visitor Tracker was accessed
and preventing it from running. The error happened if show "All" visitors on the
settings page was selected and saved.

February 6, 2012 - v2.6.7
- Fix for the undefined variable/index for OS, Browser, Language on storefront.

January 26, 2012 - v2.6.6
- Fixed a couple of db sql statements that were not escaping possible single quotes
- Fixed a couple of other minor bugs

January 15, 2012 - v2.6.5
- Removed the vtracker_cart.tpl page. To view the abandoned carts, hover over them on the main Visitor
Tracker screen and a popup will show all the relevant cart information. Contains the quantity,
product name, model number (can be changed through the code to show a sku or upc), product price including
special pricing if customer is eligible, product discounts, options (if any), option pricing (if any), and
cart totals.
- Email your customers with abandoned carts to offer a discount to make the sale or to find out why the
customer abandoned their cart from the Abandoned Cart window. The vtracker_email.tpl is the email template
file. You can make changes to this file to suit your needs (styling, wording in the language file, etc).
For customers that you can send an email to, there will be a checkbox under the Email column. If you click
the checkbox, it will automatically send them an email. Once sent, the checkbox will be replaced with a
green check mark to let you know that they have been sent an email. After 7 days, you will be able to
send another email to them if you choose to do so. Run the following SQL commands or this won't work:

ALTER TABLE vtracker_cart ADD COLUMN email_sent int(11) NOT NULL;
INSERT INTO vtracker_settings SET settingName = 'discount', settingValue = '0';
INSERT INTO vtracker_settings SET settingName = 'coupon', settingValue = '0';

- Added two settings on the settings page for the Abandoned Cart discount percentage and coupon code if you
choose to give your customers a discount if they come back to purchase the items left in their carts.

January 12, 2012 - v2.6.4
- Fixed issue where the vtracker_cart table customer_name and email fields were not being updated
if the user was a guest, added items to their cart, and then created an account.
- Fixed issue where a "Guest" in the abandoned carts was being given a blank mailto: hyperlink. The
"Guest" should not be hyperlinked as there is no email associated with a Guest. Only Customers should
have the email hyperlink.
- Fixed a frontend "undefined index" notice that occured when a bot was crawling the site
- Changed the Cancel button to a Back button on the Settings page
- Moved the Clear Carts link for the Abandoned Carts to a button on the button bar
- Added a new field to the vtracker_cart table to track the actual cart totals for the customer for display
on the Cart popup. Shows all totals data (sub-total, taxes, shipping, total, etc). This will include any
customer discounts or specials. This is the actual price the customer would have paid had they purchased the
items. Run the following SQL command: ALTER TABLE vtracker_cart ADD COLUMN cart_total text NULL;

January 11, 2012 - v2.6.3
- Fix for cart contents issue where customer logs off and cart is cleared from vtracker_cart table even
if customer still has items in cart. Now if customer logs off and there are still items in his/her
cart, the vtracker_cart table will still show these items
- Fix for cart contents when item is added/removed and page is not refreshed. Example, visitor adds an
item to his/her cart and then closes the browser immediately after. Previously, the vtracker_cart
table would not have been updated to reflect this item in their cart. Now, Ajax is used to update
the vtracker_cart table when an item is added to the cart or the cart is cleared by the customer
- Fix for an issue with the botlist being imported numerous times. I recommend you truncate (flush)
your vtracker_botlist table and run the SQL command for inserting the botlist into that table
manually to get rid of the many duplicate bots. You can find the INSERT commands for the botlist
table in the vtracker-db.sql file.
- Added a check all/uncheck all option for the Excluded Bots, Excluded IP Addresses and Banned IP
Address list boxes on the settings page

January 10, 2012 - v2.6.2
- Added a select box to choose to view All Visitors, Bots Only, Guests Only, Customers Only,
and Guest & Customers only
- Changed the Visitor Type display of Customers from "Customer" to their Firstname and Lastname
- Added "Default Settings" on the settings page to set defaults for # of visitors to show, type
of visitors to show, and to show or hide each section. By setting these, you do not have to
reset them each time you open Visitor Tracker
- Added a date field for the abandoned carts to show the date the cart was created/modified and
removed the Customer Email column. Linked the customer email address to the Customer Name so
if you click on the Customer Name, it will start the email process
- Changed the abandoned carts function. Now all carts will be stored in the vtracker_cart table
and automatically removed if the guest/customer purchases the items. Will no longer delete the
cart contents in the Opencart customer table when clearing the abandoned carts in the Visitor
Tracker module. Only the vtracker_cart table will be cleared if you clear the abandoned carts.
- Hover over the Cart icons and a popup will display the cart contents. You can still click to
view the cart contents as well.

January 7, 2012 - v2.6.1
- Made the location pushpins on the Geolocation map clickable. When clicked, a popup info box
shows the visitors information
- Fixed the missing tracker.png file for the frontend Visitor Counter
- Added the ability to set the Refresh setting to 0 in order to disable the automatic refresh
- Re-designed the Visitor Details section for easier reading of the data. Removed the N/A and
Not Detected for Bots (these are not usually detected and made it hard to read the valid
guest/customer data). Also combined the date/time of last visit.
- Added total time on site for the last visit on main Visitor Details section and on the individual
details page
- Will now update the Language, OS, and Browser if different from previously recorded data

January 2, 2012 - v2.6.0
- Added a mapping system to visually show visitor locations on a world map
- Added "last year" to the visitor counts and visitor to sale conversion rates

December 27, 2011 - v2.5.2
- Fixed a typo for flushing the tables
- Fixed conversion calculations to only include orders beginning with the first use date of Visitor Tracker
If you flush or drop tables, it will only include orders beginning with the date of the flush/drop
- Added some new CSS - please make sure to copy all of the CSS from tracker-admin.css into your
admin/view/stylesheet/stylesheet.css file when upgrading (overwrite current tracker CSS)
- Added ability to show/hide the different sections

December 22, 2011 - v2.5.1
- Fixed the "clear cart" for clearing a single customer cart (guest carts were working)

December 18, 2011 - v2.5.0
- Added Top 10 Visitors by Country - view total number of visitors for each country and
the percentage of overall visits
- Added Top 10 viewed products
- Added Visitor to Order conversion rate (percentage: # of orders / # of visitors)
- Fixed "Delete History" where it was leaving the IP address with 0 page hits in the view. Now it will
delete the IP address as well as all the history for that IP address
- Fixed an issue with the location if the location has an ' in its name and caused an SQL query error

December 8, 2011 - v2.4.1
- Changed IP location service providers. Found a better provider (Geoplugin).

December 4, 2011 - v2.4.0
- Added ability to see guest carts (added a new table to keep track of guest carts)
- Added ability to clear all guest carts (this removes all items from all guest carts)
- Added ability to clear all customer carts (this removes all items from all customer carts)

November 25, 2011 - v2.3.2
- Changed the Settings, Flush Tables, and Drop Tables permissions. Must have modify in
order to use these buttons. You can give someone access permission so they can view
the data but not change the settings or flush/drop the database tables for Visitor Tracker
- Added a purge data function that will let you mass delete data older than a selected period
of time (1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or year currently - can add more options if it makes
sense to do so)
- Added a statistics box to the main Visitor Tracker page - shows the total number of unique
visits for the following: today, yesterday, week, month, year as well as how many were by
bots, guests, or customers. Will be adding top 5-10 page views at some point.

November 18, 2011 - v2.3.1
- Fixed the boxes in the admin window for viewing the cart and viewing visitor history
to not show the scrollbars.

November 17, 2011 - v2.3.0
- Ban IP addresses from your store completely without using HTACCESS. Banned IP's are
redirected to an external site. IP can be added under settings or in the Visitor
History list on the main Visitor Tracker page
- Added scrollbars to the Who's Online and Abandoned Cart boxes to control their size
and keep the data from pushing the Visitor History down on the page
- Added an auto-refresh function for the main page. Defaults to 30 seconds but can
be changed under the settings page to whatever interval you would like

October 10, 2011 - v2.2.0
- Major upgrade to the detection of robots/spiders, operating system, and browser type.
It now uses a local file to parse the useragent string. The result is more robots,
browsers, and operating systems are detected now.
- Now detects mobile phone operating systems and browsers

old tables or running several SQL commands manually on your SQL server
- Fixed a couple of minor bugs/notice messages

October 8, 2011 - v2.1.0

- Added a session variable to allow the bypassing of most of the logging code once the
visitor has accessed the site - increases processing speed of logging
- Added another session variable to keep the database records straight. I was seeing
tracking information being logged under the wrong IP address numerous times. Adding
the session variable prevents this from happening

September 23, 2011 - v2.0.3

server is on a different timezone)
