This extension removes the affiliate program COMPLETELY from your shop. If you just remove the the link from the footer many files are still there. Furthermore, if google already knows about your affiliate link users still might be able to find it and subsequently to use it.
This module does not only remove the links from the catalog and admin area it also deletes the affiliate files physically. If you have e.g. 2 languages there are more than 30 files deleted! This means: easier maintenance and less used space on your server.
You have to have vqmod installed.
