Re: Website find 65,500€ for using outdated webshop software and md5 hash of passwords

It should be clearly stated: OpenCart itself has no known vulnerabilities. That is just not true. There are known vulnerabilities in all versions. Sorry, but all versions is clearly much to much. For example: some here may remember the times when OpenCart 1.4.x was published. And yes, also this ver...

Re: Website find 65,500€ for using outdated webshop software and md5 hash of passwords

There are known vulnerabilities with all versions of OpenCart. I think the biggest risk comes from themes and extensions. There are so many poorly written ones out there. You don't see many reports of OpenCart sites being hacked, and when you do it's usually an issue with the theme or an extension....

Re: Shipping estimate issue (postal code)

The general rule when using an extension which is not working as expected: contact the author of that extension . The more if it is a commercial/paid one - you have the right of a working extension. Then, if the author does not respond in a reasonable time, either request your money back (with may i...

Hi there,

I'm planning on upgrading from OC 3.0.2.0 to the latest version.
No, please not.
Why?
3.0.3.7 has no benefit in comparison to 3.0.3.2 which you should use when you want to stay with 3.x

Code: Select all

class ControllerClassName extends Controller {
	$property;

	public function methodName {
		$property = 1;
	}
}
You're using it improperly, that's all. Please, continue to study the coding.
That's what I already wrote above ..

Re: Cannot define properties (3.0.3.7)

What do you mean? OpenCart is a generic PHP network, you can do any generic stuff. If I were to declare a property: class ControllerClassName extends Controller { $property; public function methodName { $property = 1; } } The actual page I'm loading will give me an "Unexpected variable" message, ma...

Re: Small Charity - Getting Started

I would like to know too where you can get a property validated SSL certificate for that price. I suspect for that price it's just a domain validated one, the same as Let's Encrypt. Sure you probably had to give a billing address when purchasing it, but that isn't the same a validation. I certainly...

Re: Small Charity - Getting Started

Disagree, Let's Encrypt is fine for live shops, you can be sure than 99.99% of customers won't know the difference. Exactly. Customers won't know the difference. Only service providers will. Sounds like: let the customer die stupid .. Same as it was with https: 2,3 years ago, nearly none (except sp...

Re: VAT for shipping calculated from tax rates.

Usually the VAT can be calculated this way: 1. all items have the same VAT > shipping use same VAT (e.g. 20%) .. the OpenCart way .. 2. some items have VAT A (e.g. 15%) and some VAT B (e.g. 20%) > shipping should be calculated on total sum of each items VAT class (and is finally a mixture of all) 3....

Re: Small Charity - Getting Started

You can try Let's Encrypt for SSL, IT'S FREE. Clearly: NO! Why not? Let's Encrypt Certificates are used by many fakeshops. Second: this kind of certificate does not confirm who the owner of the webshop/website is. Third: a qualified certificate will cost approx. 15,- Euro per year - that amount sho...

Re: Small Charity - Getting Started

For PayPal use PayPal Express.
Removing parts (e.g. sections, links, etc.) use the internal Template editor - the easiest way. Another could be creating Events (but that's more for experienced OpenCart developers/users).

btw: either use 3.0.3.7 or 3.0.2.0 - not 3.0.3.6

Re: How can images in products appear in full size?

No need for editing code. The solution is in Extensions/Extensions/Choosing Themes from the drop-down menu/Editing my theme and from the new page we edit: Product image thumb size: 640x360 Product Image Popup Size: 1280x720 Can't believe that nobody knew this. Everybody who work with OpenCart knows...

Yes, it is enabled at the product section. Ok, will skip order filling for now, will return if any solutions come up. p.s. No, the tab 4. The master branch is the development branch.
In that case is clear I installed a beta.
Do you suggest I continue with it, or better delete and install 3.0.3.7?
Depends on what you want to do?
Just playing around: use 4.x
Want a working shop: use 3.0.3.7 (or better 3.0.3.2)
