Disable Image Cache Completely

I have over 100,000 images, 5 images per product which brings the original images count to 500,000. By the time the system creates 5 new images sizes and copies them into the /httpdocs/image/cache/catalog/ directory I end up with 3,000,000 images. The original images are all optimized in terms of di...

Re: How to DISABLE OpenCart image cache?

Ernie, Thank you for your help, but it did not work at all. I wish you can focus your answer on bypassing the creation of any product images and simply use the original image. I tested your site and its really fast, nice job!!. I'll tackle speed that later. What I did: updated the config.php file, u...

Re: How to DISABLE OpenCart image cache?

Thanks IP_CAM, first I should let you know that my version is 2.0.3.1 with the Journal theme. All my original images are optimized and so I don't get any size reduction benefits from the caching mechanism. With 100,000 products, all I get is a giant storage monster. So I tried replacing the function...

Re: How to DISABLE OpenCart image cache?

Is this a way to disable all product image caching or just the pop-ups? With 100k products and 3-5 additional images its just too much to have 400-600 thousand images on the server. if there is a simple was to let cc deal with the size, it will be great.

Re: UPGRADE to 2.x: Contemplate before thou begins!

Was this all fixed with 2.3.0.2? Can we now use the out of the box upgrade process?
If so, can someone here be more specific? Which of the upgrades below should work:
Upgrade from 1.5.x >> 2.3.0.2
Upgrade from 2.0.x >> 2.3.0.2
Upgrade from 2.1.x >> 2.3.0.2
Upgrade from 2.2.x >> 2.3.0.2

Re: 2.2.0.0 Upgrade Script Improvements by Qphoria - TEST PL

I have an active store with Version 2.0.3.1 and 50K products. I really want to try this... What do you recommend? 1. Making a test copy of the store and trying the upgrade there (copying all the images, changing the config files..) 2. Make a full backup of code and DB and run your script (roll back ...

Re: Attempted Theft of the OpenCart Project!

i2Paq --- it seems we have a similar history with oSC. The only reason I made a comment here is because i really like OC, albeit frustrated with the inability to get the latest and greatest. On a lighter note, Compare and Fair never go together because no two things are ever the same. A much nicer G...

Re: Attempted Theft of the OpenCart Project!

The point is that osCommerce is going nowhere, it is stuck on v2.x for 10 years and the only users it has are those who are stuck with it or don't know how to dump it. Why? probably because Ponce de Leon likes to keep things close to his chest, so close that no one ever sees them. To keep the projec...

Re: Attempted Theft of the OpenCart Project!

First let me say that what Konstaninos has done is not cool! Beyond that it is a matter of law and jurisdiction. You may or may not be able to stop him from using the name depending on the law of the country where the alleged offense occurred, in this case the UK. Having a trademark registered in th...

Re: OpenCart 2.2.0.0 Released!!

I'm not a developer, or an opensource expert, but there has been 8 releases of 2.x and none of them is upgradable. It seems that the two administrators in this forum daniel and qphoria did not try this together before releasing the latest version. is that how it works? makes no sense to me. thanks ex

Does this tool work? People are reporting so many problems with upgrades, I'm a little concerned that i will run into problems, also not knowing what the tool is doing, harder to roll back?

DANIEL --- When will all the good fixes "Randem" has in his post, be incorporated into the official version? Its been months in the making and as a result only a few made 2.x to 2.x upgrades. What is the point of releasing new versions if they are designed only for fresh install? Just in case you ne...

Re: OpenCart PHP warnings...

I moved my v 1.5.6.4 to a new server and started getting this error. Changing both config files fixed the problem except for some extensions that are still causing the error. For example System Info extension by EchoThemes gives this error.I am wondering if this has to to with the extension itself o...

Re: HELP ME, ERROR AFTER UPGRADE

You will be chasing many more errors after you get rid of this one. I suggest you roll back. Read other posts, no one has offered a solution that works.

If you just want to get rid of the port error add this line to config.php

Code: Select all

define('DB_PORT', '3306');

2.1.0.1 Upgrade FAILED - miserably

Don't even try upgrading to 2.1.0.1 from earlier versions. I tried upgrading a live store from 2.0.3.1 after reading all the other posts and using the "fix" scripts some of the good folks posted on the forum. It was a monster disaster, one set of errors after another... a few hours later I rolled ev...

Re: Delete multiple orders

Can this be made into a mod? so that we don't have to remember to change with every upgrade. I was testing V 2.1 and this is still an issue there. Frankly an oversight by the developers since we all know too well that the "missing orders" quickly fills up by schmucks testing stolen credit cards.

2.0.3.1 Orders Admin Bugs and Suggestions

I have been using OC 2.0.3.1 for a few weeks now and wanted to report minor issues what don't exist or work much better on 1.5.6 1. When applying the "Missing Orders" filter the order count is wrong. It counts all the orders in the system same as when no filter is applied. (in 1.5.6 the count is cor...
