Re: Validated markup

A common problem with many websites.

If the final OpenCart 0.8 continues to have validation problems I am willing to port my XHTML upgrade package to the upcoming 0.8 version, but I'd prefer having a clean XHTML flavor of OpenCart 0.8 in the first place.

Re: color/size matrix

Quantity tracking is curently only supported on a per product basis, not for product options. If you want to accomplish the latter, you'd have to do some changes to the underlying database (e.g. add a 'quantity' field to the 'product_to_option' DB table) and change some PHP scripts for the quantity ...

Re: Installation from local to server

You can find details on how to install it from    http://www.opencart.com/opencart/download/opencart_documentation.pdf If you already have a customized version of OpenCart on a local box, then all you have to do is to upload all of your OpenCart directories and files (except for 'install' folder) to...

Re: Products with no image

We always use a no-image.png entry for products which have no image and have of course uploaded this default image on our OpenCart servers.

Re: OPENCART AS A CATALOG

At least to hide some parts in sitemap:

# My Account

    * Account Information
    * Password
    * Address Book
    * Order History
    * Downloads
Just comment it out in the file at catalog/template/default/content/sitemap.tpl

Re: Customer login

I had to do this since I had some functionality which have to be handled in different carts What exactly are the differences in functionality so as to split your store into two? If the differences are just minor you'd probably be better off with one OpenCart store where you just happen to split you...

Re: Continued support for OpenCart 0.7.7

I agree, we need some kind of continued support for existing OpenCart 0.7.7 users. There are two options: 1) Continue supporting OpenCart 0.7.7 with minor bug fix releases and supported extensions and/or contributions using the current opencart.com website and forum, with Daniel and other contributo...

Re: SVN

I'd be willing to contribute to a new version of OpenCart via a SVN repository. I would port my Import/Export module to the new version, to start with.

Re: Question from noob -- Nested Information Pages

We did something similar for one of our stores using nested categories, see e.g. http://www.vcsproducts.com.au/index.php?controller=category&path=14_140 It uses an OpenCart extension for category descriptions which you can get from http://www.opencart.com/contribution/info/category_id/1/contribution...

Re: Import/Export Not Show Up

Have you followed the instructions as outlined in our manual (http://www.mhccorp.com/opencart-0-7-7-export-import.pdf) when you installed it?

Re: Updated Bulk Export/Import module

I tested this could-be-vary-usefull plug but unfortunately, in my case it makes export only in actual language. Somebody has better expierences with it in more as 1 language? It is by design only supporting one language at a time, that is, the current default language. Assuming you have the same ca...

Re: Can not add products and show products

For some reasons they may not have been saved in your MySQL database. Basically, to make sure a given product belongs to a category, use OpenCart's admin interface: Choose Catalog > Product which lists all your products currently stored in your database. Click on the Updatet-icon at the right side f...

Re: Can't create an account (i.e. new user/shopper)

As I said in my private message to you, restore your original layout.tpl file, and make your changes on your home page on the home.tpl instead, and that should fix this problem.

Re: Removing "Additional Images"

It should not display additional images unless you specifically add them.

To clean it up, you could remove the entries from the MySQL table 'product_to_image', and from then on it should not be a problem anymore.

Re: Install error:Error: register_globals is enabled!

This can be indeed a problem with many shared hosting accounts. register_globals should be set to off for security reasons and is the recommended default value for PHP 5.x. We set up six OpenCart based websites with different customer accounts on MDWebHosting, and on one of their servers the registe...

Re: to Daniel(about new version)

Daniel, Whenever you release OpenCart 0.8, can you make sure that OpenCart 0.7.7 still remains available for a while, too, because there are many live shops using that version. It would make sense to maintain 0.7.7 (e.g. for minor bug fixes, etc) for a reasonable period of time anyway. I have so far...

You could change the product.php file like this: .........         foreach ($values as $value) {           $option_value_info = $database->getRow("select * from option_value where option_value_id = '" . (int)$value['option_value_id'] . "' and option_id = '" . (int)$key . "' and language_id = '" . (i...
