Until OC v4.0.2.4, subscriptions were still under development. I would wait for the next release before considering the use of the subscriptions.

manufacturer_name also originates from an extension since the core does not have this name created from any database tables. Clearly, those customer entries were also attempted to be inserted into extension / custom fields, therefore, something(s) you are not telling us.
