Re: Shipping Price scenario

You still want to use the weight based shipping module. Simply create a geo zone for every country you post to and enter 99999:£ So, create geo zone France, set shipping to 999999:2.5 Create geo zone spain, set shipping to 99999:3.10 create geo zone Germany, set shipping to 99999:2.95 etc, etc. a we...

Re: PCI Compliance?

Yes REAL stores use things like authorize.net which requires it. .... We'll I'd completely disagree. The amount of quite large businesses using hosted pages for their web shops is quite considerable. That said, I do agree that taking the payment on your own site is probably preferable but most shop...

Re: PCI Compliance?

PCI doesn't only cover the shopping cart but also the servers, and if you're storing details, then the office you're sitting in as well, but there is an easy get out. Does PCI DSS apply to merchants who use payment gateways to process transactions on their behalf, and thus never store, process or tr...

Re: How to access "header.tpl" file ?

Filezilla is excellent if a little overwhelming for some, but stick with it and learn to use it. The only caution is that you should NEVER, when setting up a site, add the password to the site setting and let the filezilla (or any ftp client) remember the password. They are normally held in plain te...

Re: Image too large ?

What I guess it is all about is that any image greater than 300k is just too big. Personally, I think 300k is too much and wouldn't dare to have an image larger the 100k on my shops; most of my large images come in at about 30k. Large images are going to slow the site down and also eat up bandwidth,...

Re: How to diable "There are no products to list in this cat

Not sure why you would want to do this as this will leave a customer guessing and wondering if something has gone wrong. Anyway, if you want to remove it simply delete the following line from catalog\view\theme\default\template\product\category.tpl <div class="content"><?php echo $text_error; ?></di...

Re: Remove + Prefix from available options

Can't quite work out why you would want to do this. The option + - is for product options that cost more or less than the base price. In you example link, it would seem that you shouldn't have the + £75 on the product option and you should just have the size as the size makes no difference to the pr...

Re: Make option text fields wider?

I'm working with 1.4.9.3 but guess 1.4.9.4 is the same. add this to the stylesheet: #myselect { width:230px; } #myselect option { width:220px; } ..\catalog\view\theme\default\template\product\product.tpl Change: <select name="option[<?php echo $option['option_id']; ?>]"> to this: <select id="myselec...

Re: disabling zoom

This is on v. 1.4.9.3 I guess it is the same for other 1.4.x but I don't know. You need to edit ..\catalog\view\theme\default\template\product\product.tpl Change line 14 to this: <td style="text-align: center; width: 250px; vertical-align: top;"><img src="<?php echo $thumb; ?>" title="<?php echo $he...

Re: Need to select payment type based on order amount

I need to do this aswell so this is what I have done to acheive it. You need to edit the appropriate file in ..\catalog\model\payment The files all seem to follow the same formatting so should work for any of them You need to add these lines: if ($this->cart->getSubTotal() > '100') $status = FALSE; ...

Re: gradient background

Not sure what you want to do but try this:

Add the background to the style sheet as below.

}
body {
background: url('../indirizzoimmagine/page_g.jpg') repeat-x;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
text-align: center;
}

Re: OpenCart v1.4.9.4 Stylesheet Questions...

Best thing to do is install Firefox and then install the FireBug add on. Right click the area you are interested in and then select 'inspect element' from the pop-up menu. On the catalog product page... how do I change the size of the font, style of the font used on the Product "descrition" tab? \ca...

Re: SEO Urls

As a simple quick work around I just changed line 84 of admin/model/catalog/product.php to this: $this->db->query("INSERT INTO " . DB_PREFIX . "url_alias SET query = 'product_id=" . (int)$product_id . "', keyword = '" . $this->db->escape($data['keyword']) . '-p-' . (int)$product_id . '.html' . "'");...

Re: Does anybody really make any money selling on line

If you don't know HTML as you put it then I think open cart is one of the better ones to condiser. As for 'hours to maintain' then I say not really true. Yes, there will be a burst of considerable time and effort required to get it set up (a bit of learning required) and the products in but after th...

Re: advantages/disadvantages of opencart

I'm in the middle of the same sort of problems above. I currently run OsCommerce but I've hacked it to death and there is little else that I can do with it. What I would say is that OsComm has so many free mods that there is the possibility of doing just about anything with your shop. That said, I s...

Cookie Usage page?

Currently playing with 1.4.9.3. Am I correct in thinking that there is a glaring omission: there is no cookie usage page? If I turn off cookies then the checkout does not work but OC give me no indication as to why. I know that this is because cookies are turned off but a potential customer may not....

Turns out it was very.

Ok, I was editing the wrong file! For the life of me I couldn't understand why nothing I tried was working. It was late at night and it had been a very long day, well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Re: Free Shipping Limitation Discussion

I have given this a go and seems to work quite well.

Trouble for me (and I would have though a lot of people) is that the logic is the wrong way around. I want everything to qualify for free shipping except for a very few products.

How easy would it be to reverse the logic on these fixes?

Free/total based/per item shipping conundrum

I have searched, and searched, and searched.... So I'm now completely confused and thought I'd ask the experts..... With my current shop (oscommerce - I'd like to defect to OC once 1.5 is stable) the shipping is defined as thus: Price based @ £2.95 for orders upto 19.99 and then free shipping for or...
