opencart is a superb software easy to use and also easy to customize. i am planning to migrate my old store(built on intersphire 6) to opencart.

In intersphire, the seo urls have different structure than opencart. Since many of my pages are well ranked in google so i dont want to hurt and change the urls.

old intersphire urls for categories are like

they have word "category" as prefix and a slash "/" in the end. We have almost 50+ categories.

what will be the best way ?
1. url rewrite rule in htaaccess (if yes how)
2. 301 redirect for all categories
3. using canonical tag

is there any way i can preserve my old URLS?

Its very well possible to create indentical seo url structure in opencart, as you can set a parent categorie with own seo url, child categorie under parent with own seo url and assign any seo url to a product.

To be sure one must have a look at original site to see how seo urls are set there.
