Multi-store sub domain problem OC 1.5.4

I'm trying to use the multi store feature using a subdomain.
Here's what I've done so far:

1. http://Domain.com/ works fine
2. Added a New Store in OC settings http://sub1.domain.com/ with slash

3. Created a subdomain in cpanel http://sub1.domain.com/
it was created in Document root : public_html/sub1
The directory “sub1” is empty
It’s not redirected

When I navigate to sub1.domain.com ...I get error 403 Forbidden
What m’I doing wrong.

You need to change the document root for the sub directory in your cpanel to point to the directory you have your opencart installed in.

Running Opencart v3.0.3.2 with multi-stores from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.

I have a very similar problem

hosting is running cPanel
hosting primary domain is hostdomain.co.uk
Opencart installation is in /public_html/domainA/
domainA.com has SSL certificate
Opencart is working fine on domainA.com

Multistore second domain is domainB.com
domainB.com is configured in cPanel as an AddOn domain
domainB.com is pointing at /public_html/domainA/
domainB.com does not have have an SSL certificate yet.

end result is domainB.com just redirects to domainA.com. Is this due to domainB.com not having an SSL certificate? Definitive, knowledgeable answers appreciated, please don’t say “maybe”!

I have an identical set up in another folder on the same hosting for testing. Neither domain has an SSL but that system works fine. The only difference being the SSL.

Nope. Not all of my 23 domains have SSL running but they all run from the same oc installation.

check your settings for the store in domain b and make sure you have the ending / http://www.domainb.com/

having been through all of the various guides regarding multistore set up, that my issue is Not a set or configuration issue, it is something a bit deeper.

Where in the file structure should I be looking , and comparing code?

what should I expect to see in the .htaccess files located in both public_html/ and public_html/domainA/ folders.

You should not see a .htaccess file in public_html/domainA/ that pertains to your Opencart install. There's only 1 .htaccess file for any multi store setup.
