affiliate order update commission email

I'm not sure how to solve this one as I can't find any setting in the settings to turn it off, the client messaged me saying the following
"We need to turn the emails off for commission because it's causing headaches and confusion. Every time the status of the order is changed, it's pushing through another email to the affiliate and the team keep thinking there's an error with the amount their owed when there isn't an issue at all"
The only setting I see is new affiliate email alert but that's for the admin. I can't see any setting that turns off the email to the affiliate for the commission and when a order status is changed/updated
I think I need to edit one of the opencart files but unsure which one, any help to let me know would really be appreciated
