I know there are several threads on this topic, but I've read them and cannot find a solution that works.

I have to say, I need to understand why this pesky email sending issue is the way it is in Opencart? This is very basic functionality that a low level tech person like me should not have any trouble implementing.

Our emails have been down for a week. In the past this has happened and taken several days to resolve.

What is it with Gmail and Opencart? We use google workspaces to be accurate.

I have all the settings as follows in the attachment.

Upon sign up I'm getting a page error (and so are new customer sign ups). See attached.

I've spent hours and hours and hours on this. So has the support team at Fastcomet and workspaces.

The one thing that interrupted the email functionality was we switched from a shared hosting plan to a VPS plan at Fastcomet. That's what ended our functionality. They cannot figure it out at Fastcomet and they are now pulling top google search results and pasting them into the support ticket. I've long ago tried those solutions too.

That will not make any difference if SMTP is set as the Mail Engine, only if it is set to Mail. The original poster needs to check their PHP or server error logs.

I enabled the show error setting and got this:

Warning: stream_socket_enable_crypto(): Peer certificate CN=`node5978.myfcloud.com' did not match expected CN=`smtp.gmail.com' in /home/nextdayp/public_html/system/storage/modification/system/library/mail.php on line 307

Server related issue. Are you using Cpanel & WHM?

WHM is root. if you have access to your server (WHM) then you Home »Security Center »SMTP Restrictions and make sure it is disabled.

Ok I will try that.

In the meantime this is what FastComet said last week and reiterated today

Contact a web developer with PHP and OpenCart experience who will be able to troubleshoot the PHP errors and fix the issue.

I could not find this setting in CPanel. I have passed the request along to the developers. Our web@nextdaypaper.com email address is through google. Why can't the email go straight through to google?

First try on the password reset request was a success. The website sent the email. It went to by personal email and went to Spam. Is this because related to the disabling of restrictions?

No. Use an online email deliverability checker to see why you emails get marked as spam.

That means it's probably time to pay a developer such as ourselves or post a job in the Commercial Support Forum.

Seriously, Paul??
With this kind of answer, you came for help?
Haven't you read the thread? The major issue is already resolved, and now OP just needs to make sure that emails shouldn't end up in the Spam folder.
