Not sure if this is a bug as I can find no reference to it on OC or Github. We have just upgraded to Version 2.1.0.1. The store credit comes off the customers payment no problem but it still remains in their transaction account, so they could keep using it forever. Is this a reported issue?
Store credits only remove if the order status changes to a "Completed" state. A completed state is any state checked within the "Completed Status" section of the main system settings.
Note that there is a bug (at least in 2.0 if I remember correctly) where if you change the status from the admin to a completed state, it doesn't properly update the order for the store credit. So it will only work if the order is set to a completed state initially during the order processing. It might also work for Processing status too. But if the order goes to Pending then it won't ever update. Not sure if this was fixed in 2.1
