I bought a module from Opencart-Support.com . It's called XML Import Pro.
https://www.opencart-support.com/xml-import-pro

My developer told me that I should buy it in order to implement an easy XML system for my website. I don't think he is related with them.

But the thing is that when I made the purchase (and it's not cheap, it's 50 USD), I didn't get any email. That's strange. Since they are supposed to be developers, they should implement a system in their own website which will automatically send an email after a product purchase. I even checked my spam folder.

So there are 3 Red flags here:
A) No automatic email with the download link.
B) Very Slow support. We are nearly 24 hours after the purchase.
C) Even their website shows a red warning message which says that they don't do custom work and this message makes their template collapse so that the titles are not visible. They declare themselves as developers but their own website is not 100% functional.

Anyone else who bought from them? If they don't reply within 2 days I am thinking of taking a PayPal refund. The first time I did this -and it was successful- the website that was selling the template didn't even care to reply. One day we should make a list of all those "developers" that have abandoned their businesses.

The aspect A might be a possible cause to report about unless being delayed in their response due to a queued task. However, an automated email should still be submitted to you in regards to a next ticket queue or email response from their website. As for aspect B and C, slow support (which means slow service but does eventually provide response to their buyers), and red warnings on a site where custom work is not involved does not provide the means the people owning the website and the assets are not programmers because their website is not a 100% functional.

However, since you are referring to a third-party website, you are still entitled to request a refund regarding an extension that may not provide the functionality you expected by using PayPal if the payment transaction was indeed initiated via PayPal from the website you mentioned by filling a dispute claim since refunds from buyers can be requested within 6 months on anyhow.

24 hours later no response. I asked for a PayPal refund.
Clearly a ghost company. Avoid in any cost.

Aja ...

I cannot "detect" any Imprint on their site, who they are where they are located?!
The only thing I can read, that they are from CZ.

Recommend NOT to buy any service/extension from them!

Why don't they sell their OpenCart extensions on the OpenCart marketplace?

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

To avoid the 20% commission fee + the 30 days delays email notification sent regarding each sales of their extensions.

They never replied!

I escalated the issue to PayPal to get refunded.

A confirmed scam.

Well I just bumped into this extension by accident.
Its not a scam in any way. It is actually pretty usable on a basic level.
The developer is utterly useless when it comes to any support / issues
That's how I come across it, I got asked to help someone adapt it to their needs and fix some issues.
With a bit of effort it can be useful in a few situations.
It is especially good at an initial import to fill the store.
Updating products is hit and miss like others, especially options and attributes etc.
If you asked a developer for this functionality for your store the bill wouldn't be $50.00.
If anyone else has or gets this extension and wants help with it just contact me.
This is the first import tool I have seen / used from the marketplace so where it fits I do not know.
There may be better ones available but it is NOT a scam.

It's absolutely legit to have an own store and not selling on the OpenCart Marketplace.
Why?
5 main reasons (like for myself):
1. better, faster and direct support
2. other update/upgrade options
3. correct license
4. not sharing my client data with someone somewhere
5. avoid to pay an obstruse commission up to 50%

Important for such stores is, to comunicate who stands behind the store, who owns and how to contact.
But that should be normal these days .. IF serious!

That is correct
They have different websites but essentially the same extensions.
The link you give is the MAIN site for this developer.
There is not much wrong with the code at all, It is the support that is lacking for end users that are not developers..
He eventually answers questions, but it could be some time, which is not what is promised in the marketing.
If you are a developer the code is straightforward and you won't need his support.

I posted because I didn't think it was fair that this extension and developer were reported as a scam.
The extension I am working with on behalf of someone WAS purchased through OC marketplace.
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=20834

As OSWorX points out it is only right that some developers will not sell through OC Marketplace for obvious reasons.

Hello,
I'm author and owner of opencart-support.com + deawid.com + opencart.cz sites.

First of all. It's not scam at all!
I create that support because a lot of opencart customers need some special edits/modifications or just simply fix some problems.

On opencart-support.com is over 450 tickets, on deawid.com over 2500 tickets.

So you can imagine how much works I do there and how much time I spend on each of ticket.....

Unfortunately I have my works where I must be and working. Opencart support isn't my primary business.
Because that I must stop opencart-support.com page for one year. You get message on top of the page.

For all of my extension I never stop any support !
Free support is still on my primary https://www.deawid.com/support site.

For that I can't reply asap.. sorry.

And about opencart-support automail - there can be some problem, but no one alerted me about that. If you still need that extension and you didn't refound, contact me on deawid@seznam.cz and I send it for you.

Now I have a little more time, so I start opencart-support.com again. Will see how long I can handle it.

Thanks for understand

Fine .. for you.
But, wether for clients nor customers!

Why?
You state that you are from CZ - as far as I know is CZ a member of the EC (European Community).
And therefore, why do you have no Imprint on any of your sites?
Why do you hide who you are, where you are located, how can you be reached, etc.?

Sorry, but operating an Ecommerce site (wether selling or supporting anything) requires a minimum of official and legal informations.
Which all I am badly missing!

So better do your "homework" and add all those informations, otherwise i can only repeat: scam.

I really don't know why everyone wants to give this guy a hard time.
Try contacting google or microsoft or any number of massive organisations and you will realize you actually cannot do so in a meaningful way.

The support here maybe slow, but that's all. Questions do get answered and help is given.
His site cert is fine and legit. His code is fine and legit. So why give him a hard time, what for.
There are MANY MANY far worse so called developers to be encountered on the marketplace and outside the marketplace, this guy is not one of them.

Well, beeing around Opencart since 20 Jun 2011, and with 24 Forum Postings during all those Years, does not really make someone to really be qualified as OC enthusiast, in contrary to many others, also present, to frequently generating some income out of it. But that's only my personal opinion ... ;)
