Hi,

I am getting following warnings when I am trying to add data feed in google merchant:

Missing recommended attribute: google product category (74 warnings)

While items missing recommended attributes will process successfully, we recommend including relevant attributes if they are available.
Examples:
Item ID Line Nr.
90 17 Show Item
95 49 Show Item
99 111 Show Item
164 211 Show Item
165 215 Show Item

Can anyone please help with this.

I am using opencart 1.5.4

Thanks,

Gaurav

By default the google feed doesn't include that.

In order to add this you need to edit: catalog/controller/feed/google_base.php

And add:

Code: Select all

$output .= '<g:google_product_category>' . ' YOUR PRODUCT CATEGORY HERE ' . '</g:google_product_category>';
But this will not add any sub-categories just a top category you put in above.

Otherwise you'll need to find an extension to do this.

Sorry I personally can't. I use what I wrote above and it works fine for me so I haven't searched for a replacement.

Maybe someone else on the forum.

I had a go at coding this to pick up the category from OC but category is not defined in the feed .php file and I am not good enough at coding to work out (quickly enough, since I do not use Google Ads myself) how to define it there so it can be used in the feed - someone with good php skills could easily do it I am sure.

Did you find a quick and easy extension that worked for you?
The code didn't work for me ( as the feed is not defined I assume)
so I am looking too.
