Hi,

I use OC 6 years ago and that was easy to set.
Now I'm setting a new store for a friend with v 3.0.3.6 and I found it more complicated than before and this may be my last OC store...

I don't recall having much issues with the installer and the cache system (maybe I just don't understand it)
I must say I'm not a fan of MVC (too much files for nothing)

Language files make no sense to me, we need to translate over and over the same string in multiple pages
Added, edited or delete message don't need to include the item name, this prevent quick search and replace.

Theme are still complicated to adapt and with the cache that does not help.
Also there are still lack of good advanced tutorials.
This is disappointing that over the years OC still look the same.

This is disappointing that over the years OC still look the same.
Well, my Wife still looks the same, and I use her for the past 46 Years already.
---
But other than that, the Majority of OC Users uses a Custom Theme anyway,
so, if OC would offer different Themes, it would be against any Business Logic.
And when it comes to OC, it's all about Business, so, where is the Problem ? :D

And if you don't like that fact, that it did not get much easier to handle, compared
with older Versions, just ignore it, and settle with one of the 'older' OC Versions, like
the one's listed here. They have mostly been updated to latest OC knowledge:
https://github.com/IP-CAM OC v.1.5.6.5
https://github.com/condor2 Opencart_2302 updated
https://github.com/IP-CAM?tab=repositories&q=2.3.0.2 Versions up to the russian 2.3.0.2.5
---
But they owe you nothing, better be glad, they still exist ....

No explanation needed, most everyone, around this place for a while,
knows, what you meant, and how near one frequently can get to the
point of no return. But it's not a Place of Friends here, the only
'common' thing is, that you all use the same Software Brand, to run
your Online-Business, or whatever else you're using OC for.

And that makes a potential Competitor out of everyone, rather than a
potential Online-Friend. And all this, also under the Aspect, that some
only come here, to get (free) knowledge. Even you don't seem to have been
very active, during your time here, assisting others, as it looks. But no offense,
just by looking at your Numbers. And others seek OC assistance, to get their
illegally obtained Code to work, by expecting others, to act like Friends. ::)

OC is a weird Scene, and a lot of weird People, ranging from Oldie Nuts like
me, trying, to keep Mr. Alzheimer off as long and far away as possible, down to
Joungsters, trying to find a free Way, to get rich quick asap, without investing
non-existent cash ... 8) And everything in-between, by Nature of Things ...

But as I mentioned above, instead of participating, by finding latest Version
Faults and/or Misses, one can always settle with a lower-Version Number. As long
as it works up to PHP 7.4.13 now, it will be doing it's Job for the coming few Years,
until PHP v.7.4.x might be history on 'major' Servers, possibly somewhere around 2025/26 .... ;)

It's up to you, to decide, and since they all come for free, you can't blame anyone, if
you possibly selected the wrong Edition ... :D
Good Luck! ;)

1. I second Ernie on the version chosen. Go down at least two levels to 3.0.3.1-3.0.3.3. You can check differences on github for distinctions which may be relevant for you.

2. Feedback should be constructive. This was a little bit of a rant, but again, to agree with Ernie .. we all get there sometimes ..

3. It is free, please always try to remember that you not entitled to anything for free. I believe oxygen is now a paid commodity some countries.

4. Why are you re-inventing the wheel? Search the marketplace for translation and remember to say thank you.

5. If you don’t like it, don’t use it .. but that is too much work for you when it is sitting there and FREE right ? Someone painstakingly wrote it and your feedback will go straight in one ear and out of the other. The reason for that is because if I wrote it and read your feedback I would think that sounds incredible ungrateful and lazy.

PS The major improvement to the language system is absolutely wonderful and the removal of files on uninstall is wonderful too. So there are things you don’t know are so much better yet.

DISCLAIMER:
You should not modify core files .. if you would like to donate a cup of coffee I will write it in a modification for you.
