Today was the first time trying to send mail to customers. When sending mail using the Marketing menu I get this error. This entire function has been disabled completely. Does anyone know how I can fix this or what causes it?
Should I ask my hosting provider for more help on this issue?
You can if you want but I'd suggest using something like MailChimp instead to send emails.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:54 pmShould I ask my hosting provider for more help on this issue?
UK OpenCart Hosting | OpenCart Audits | OpenCart Support - please email info@antropy.co.uk
It may. However, email limits being sent throughout the day can also be reached at a minimum or higher level depending on your hosting plans.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 1:56 amIt doesn't seem right, this is supposed to work so I really want this to work. Why would you not use this function?

Could it be caused by some code or conflict that can be solved manually?
Based on your screenshot where it states: 403 - Forbidden, it is doubtful to be a code or conflict error but rather based on a server restriction message.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 3:28 amSeems a little unusual, as I barely even send mails. All orders go straight from my store.

They think something should be added to an SPF record inside DNS.
I believe this has something to do with my server settings and giving permission to send mail but I have no clue.
Does anyone know what this means?
Since it is not an Opencart issue, if you do not know how to solve this particular issue, you could either look on Google or creating a new service request in the Commercial Support section of the forum to get this done as a custom job.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:54 pmI have just contacted my hosting provider, they could not find anything.

Hiring a programmer for this makes no sense to me.
Is there any documentation available about this?
Because in my opinion there really should be. I am being sent back and forth between my hosting provider and OpenCart...
There are no documentation regarding DNS settings since DNS configurations have nothing to do with Opencart itself. On the forum, support users only handles troubleshooting for the platform and not server settings with the exception of users willing to help you professionally. An email DNS setting is a feature on your server as it has nothing to do with the Opencart's design in this case.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:10 pmLet's keep it straight, this is one of OpenCarts default functions that is supposed to be working.

I'm being sent back and forth between my hosting provider and OpenCart. I just don't know what to look for and I'm missing a complete function. My hosting provider cannot help me but neither can OpenCart. I don't understand this. The server logs have been viewed by my provider and they could not find anything, or so I was told. For as far as I'm concerned I have no access to these logs.straightlight wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:16 pmOn the forum, support users only handles troubleshooting for the platform and not server settings with the exception of users willing to help you professionally. If you use cPanel, under your FTP or File Manager console, look for the logs folder on your root domain folder. See if you have recent file dates on the shown list. An alternative way would be to see for: error_log files in your Opencart root folder or in the /admin folder on your FTP or File Manager console.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:24 pmI'm being sent back and forth between my hosting provider and OpenCart. Perhaps I need to ask the programmer that's creating a shipping module soon.
I'm pretty much out of options right now.
This really sucks
Thanks for your help all.
If you can ask a programmer to create a shipping module, then the suggestion to create a new service in the Commercial Support section of the forum to get this issue investigated as a custom job could also be an alternative option for you in this case.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 11:54 pmInside the error log files nothing could be found, they were empty.

If there's a solution that I can personally implement that would be great, of course.
I could then investigate this issue as a custom job. If interested, send me a PM and we'll discuss about it.jonagoldapple wrote: ↑Sat Apr 11, 2020 1:45 amIt would mostly depend on the price, as a starting business the budget is limited.

a 403 is always logged if your LogLevel is set lower than crit, i.e. errorInside the error log files nothing could be found, they were empty.
1) check your access logs (any well configured webserver logs requested resources with their response codes)
2) check your possible mod-security logs (your host may have mod_security active, that also has a logs SecAuditLog,SecDebugLog)
3) check your apache error log (403 is logged here when loglevel <= error)
If your host cannot find a log entry for a 403, either their log level is too high (though it can be set per directory) or they should not be hosting.
