Hi All,
Is there a built in way to change the customer group after they place an order? I'd like to be able to differentiate people who registered on the site but never placed an order from those that did. I didn't see any obvious way to do this unless I missed something.
OC 3.0.3.8 - default theme

Thank You.

Edit the customer. Customer Group is the first item in the General tab.

No, not really. I would like to change the customer group to something like 'ordered' after they place their first order. This way we can target anyone in the 'default' group with an email offer.

That means someone has to manually do that after every order is placed. Not an ideal solution.

I don't see how that helps achieve what I'm looking to do.

I'd like to see what suggestions come in from the community. My guess is I'm not the first one to be interested in this.

There's no built-in solution, but you can create a modification for this.

I'm guessing there would need to be some code added to catalog/controller/checkout/success.php to change the group.

Thank you. The first 2 seem very similar, but the second one apparently has a 'recurring' mode which should be able to provide the functionality we need without any user interaction. For $20 it's worth not trying to code something.
