I tried to upload an externally created sitemap.xml file, but it looks like opencart didn't allow that.
But I am not sure how frequently does the default Google Sitemap extension generate/update the sitemap.xml file. To me it looks like it is not updating the sitemap.xml file in real time.

How does this work?

Is this default extension good enough?

Do most of you use a different site generator?

Yeah, that won't work.

You should find an extension.

The default sitemap should be fine for small sites. It is generate every time it is accessed. Perhaps you browser or server in cacheing it.

There is a small bug fix in later versions that stops non-canonical URLs being listed.
