How does the store credit work?
In my current shop I can give a customer a store credit, if they pay too much shipping and it comes off their next order. I've tried with open cart are it doesn't seem to do that.
Is there any mod I can use to do this function?

What Open Cart version are you using?
I have not see 'Store Credit' in 1.5.x
You could give them a fixed amount discount coupon set to 1 use with a long expiry

I am just playing at the moment, trying to work out if it will do everything we want. So I downloaded the most recent one, which I think is 1.5.1.1.
Extensions has a total order option, that then has an option for store credit, which I have installed and enabled, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
If I set the coupon to 1 what does that mean?
Thanks for you quick response

Hmm a coupon is not really what I wanted to use, as it's more time consuming for us (having to look up lost coupons etc) and not as user friendly for the customer, but it might have to do if there's nothing else around.
Goto admin > sales > customers > Customers
edit a customer
Click on 'Transactions' tab
Enter the amout here. I believe that this is 'store credit'

Well I'll be.
Even I learn something new every day
Always wandered why the my account section on front-end had a transaction link that never showed anything even when a customer had placed orders.

Well, I just coudn't understand why there was a 'Store Credit' extention and then inspiration hit!
However, the reason no one can find it is because it is called 'Transactions' in the catalog and admin but 'store credit' for the extention. It really ought to be renamed.

Do you mean through the front end or the back end?
The easiest way i have found to manipulate this is to input another transaction with a (-) negative amount.
Create transaction for user A for -$10
User A's account (credit $10)
User B's Account (credit $0)
Create transaction for user B for $10
User B's account (credit $10)

User A's account (credit $20)admin > user A's account |user A's account > user B's account.

User B's Account (credit $0)

Wowsers! I did not realize I could do store credit!! Thanks.
Quick questions:
1. Can store credit be used on any of the multi-stores? If they ordered from store a and I give them a credit for something, can they shop from store b and still get the credit applied?
2. Does customer have to be a registered customer or does it key off email address? So if they check out as a guest twice using the same email address, will the credit from transaction 1 be counted on transaction 2???
I'm assuming yes on both of these, but want to be sure

Running Opencart v3.0.3.2 with multi-stores and the default template from https://www.labeshops.com which has links to all my stores.
Thanks! I figured as much, but before I advertised they could use the credit on any store, wanted to be sure.

There are also 2 mods that may help you with store credit.
1. Allow customers to buy store credit directly:

2. Module to display store credit to customer.

Yup! I've already installed the second one and it works great. In fact, seeing it in extensions is what made me discover oc does store credit! lol

This Customer Transaction / Store Credit thing needs to be properly split into the two separate functions as they are, in business, two separate aspects of dealing with the financials. Transaction is for payment on orders already received and Credit is for payment on orders yet to be received . . .

Why doesn't the store credit get refunded on order cancellation? For e.g. there is a order of $100, on which $20 is applied from store credit and remaining $80 is payable through other medium. However the customer does not pay the remaining or cancel the orders. If the order status is changed to Cancelled through admin, the store credit is not refunded automatically. Anybody care to share their view on this?
