1) admin > language > english
make a copy of the folder and rename it to bangla
Then in bangla you'll find a file engliah.php; rename it to bangla.php
You need to translate all files in subfolders (catalog, common,...user) and file bangla.php
May open with notepad++

2) catalog > language > english
make a copy of the folder and rename it to bangla
Then in bangla you'll find a file engliah.php; rename it to bangla.php
You need to translate all files in subfolders (account, checkout,...total) and file bangla.php
May open with notepad++

Come back when done!

After this, all of the files need to uploaded to language folder both in admin and catalog?
And then I need to select the new languages in admin panel, to make it works. Is that right?

No, this task is stll not complete.
Here again all steps:
1. copy all files from ../catalog/language/english to the new created language folder on your pc
2. copy all files from ../admin/language/english to the new created language folder on your pc
3. rename both english.php to the new language_name.php
4. edit and translate all files ONLY with a qualified editor NOT MS Word !! Save the files with utf-8 and WITHOUT BOM
5. copy both folders to your shop (with your FTP-program)
6. goto Localization > Languages and create a new language with name of the new language (see how english is defined)
7. if the new language shall be the standard go into your store settings and change the standard language
8. done

One final but very important note: I see always language names like english urdu whatever
Try to avoid this and use the official code like en_GB en_US etc.
With this also dialects are possible.

Is that the *official* translation site, OSWorx? Just curious because I've been asking about a better platform for ages (see this post http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=117&t=105745) and have had little response. All of a sudden there are THREE places with a translation project. Which is going to get messy...

Do, or do not. There is no try.

Thanks, a client of mine had problems with his translations files not working correctly this fixed it,

To anyone else having problems getting the translation to work, make sure you change it from your opencart admincp and enable the new language from there. I had to delete english language completely to make it work but it was not necessary.

Also use notepad++ instead of ms-word or similar programs.

Thanks once again, saved me hours of headache

Hello Moshiurabir,
there are different sites available to help you translate from English to any another language. You can fairly rely on them. Since you are looking for translating a site into Bangla language, it would be safe to hire a translation agency who offers professional language translator services. It's all about efficiency and accuracy. Here's why I think manual translation still matters
