Doing a clean install of latest version in a subdomain
When I enter the url to initate install it appears to loop giving error
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
and the url in the browser changes to
http://sandbox.mydomain.com/install/ins ... /index.php

Suggestions gratefully received.

Which OC version are you using?

Can you post both config.php files, root and admin, without database content?

Can you also post your .htaccess file from your root folder?

Thanks Straightlight
OC v2.3.0.2

Database created, but not connected ( as install will not run)

Config files = 0 bytes

.htaccess attached ( changed to .txt to allow upload to this board)

Could you elaborate this part a little? What part of the install is not working? Can you provide error messages while posting your .htaccess file?

All OC "Upload" files have been ftp'd to my subdomain
subdomain.mydomain.com

To initiate install I point browser to my url: subdomain.mydomain.com
Browser appears to go into a loop then gives error message
Error message is
"The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete".

I can see that the url now has multiple /install/install/install/install directories added

.htaccess file is added (renamed to .txt for attaching to this post) Thanks

Still no luck after several fresh installs and different / no .htaccess files.
Thinking it may have something to do with my SSL setup.
Any suggestions anyone?

Followed is an alternative solution for the .htaccess. See if this works: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 16#p632950 . In your case, you'll have to add your subdomain along with it.
