It was a paid extension, but it was developed quite a long time ago and supports only the outdated version of opencart (1.5.x).
The code of extension is far away from perfect, but currently we have no resources to improve or even to maintain this version of the module further. At the same time it is still can be useful for somebody, thus we made it free. However, as a free extension, now it also comes with no warranty (and with no guaranteed support).

For all those who purchased the module earlier, our support obligations remain valid (we provide support for them as usual).

We do not recommend to use such old versions of opencart

Module "Category out of stock status" allow to set "Out Of Stock Status" (Status shown when a product is out of stock) for category. It can be useful if you want to set different "Out Of Stock Status" for different categories (in standard OpenCart you need to set "Out Of Stock Status" for each product, module give you simpler way - set "Out Of Stock Status" for category).

Module adds select field "Out Of Stock Status" to category page. If "Out Of Stock Status" value selected at category page, then "Out Of Stock Status" value selected at product page - will be ignored.

With this module OpenCart gets "Out Of Stock Status" value for product by this steps:

• step 1: looks for "Out Of Stock Status" value in product category settings
  
• step 2: looks for "Out Of Stock Status" value in product category parents settings
  
• step 3: if product owned by more than one category, steps 1 & 2 repeats for each product category
  
• step 4: looks for "Out Of Stock Status" in product settings

If "Out Of Stock Status" value found at one of this steps, this value will used for the product and next steps will not executed.
