This extension allows you to add a large, wide banner image in the Opencart category heading area, at a different size than any other subcategory images and product images listed beneath them. The banner images are cached from the same category images in the database at a different size than category "thumbnail" images. (Without this code, standard Opencart code only allows you to show one size category image, that display in columnar lists side by side much like a product picture.)

If you want it to fill the entire middle column it is setup to fill that space at 570 pixels wide. However, the instructions tell you how to modify the size of the banner image to fit your custom template.

Also by design, the category banner image replaces the category heading text, so you can combine image and heading as one graphic (in an external image software program) for more sophisticated banners that combine text and images. On any categories that do not have images assigned, the category heading text will simply display as text.

Designed to work well with an external CSS style sheet template, you can optionally also can make stylistic changes to all category headings, in the stylesheet.
