This add-on classifies featured module by displaying module name as a head type. If you want to classify featured products as categories (i.e., Cameras, Computers, mobile phones, and so on), you can create featured modules in admin section as Cameras, Computers, Mobile Phones in module names. The featured products belong to the module name will be displayed separately on home page.
