I have this module installed. But now e-commerce information is not sent to GA 4.
Is there already an update or any other options to fix it?

Hi, the extension does not support GA4 yet, the new version is under development but for now I can't say when it will be ready

Any news on GA4 support? I have used this extension for a few years and it is excellent, but I want to make sure we keep up with changes to Analytics.

Hello, pre-purchase question.
Can I track the product variations on my GA account under Ecommerce section > Product Performance using this plugin?

VanStudio

VanStudio 4 years ago

Hello,
yes, you can track product options (select, checkbox and radio) as product variant value with this plugin (here is example from demo store - http://prntscr.com/wq6wu8). The problem can only occur if you use an additional plugin or custom code to display and operate product options.

hi, does this extension work with any theme without your support? I mean that I can do the installation by myself?

VanStudio

VanStudio 4 years ago

Hi, this extension is compatible with most themes, especially if they are based on default OpenCart theme, tracking of orders (transactions) and products in orders does not depend on the theme at all. But events such as add to cart, clicks and views depend on the theme and may require additional compatibility settings if your theme is radically different from the default (I mean the theme code, not the look).
Of course you can install this extension yourself, but I can't guarantee that all types of enhanced e-commerce events will be tracked. In any case I provide free support in case of problems but I may need access to the admin panel or theme files.

Thanks.
One more question: If I use this extension, do I need your Google Tag Manager extension (https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=marketplace/extension/info&extension_id=40386&filter_member=vanstudio)?
What are the differences between the two?

VanStudio

VanStudio 4 years ago

Hi,
the Google Tag Manager (GTM) extension allows you to add default GTM code snippets according to the Google requirements (http://prntscr.com/wa8r29) and nothing more.
It is similar to the default OpenCart extension for adding Google Analytics tracking code (http://prntscr.com/wa8u9g) with the only difference being that it has two input fields (http://prntscr.com/wa8u4b). That is, it is just setting up a connection between GTM and your site, and to track for example e-commerce this will not be enough, just as there is not enough Google Analytics tracking code to track e-commerce.

VanStudio

VanStudio 4 years ago

There is also a difference between the Google Analytics code and the GTM code. The first is designed solely to track data for Google Analytics, basically it's information about the user, where he came from, how long he stayed on the site, what last page he visited, which browser he used and etc. Whereas the GTM code is a kind of channel through which you can integrate many other solutions to the site, including Google Analytics code.
The Enhanced E-Commerce extension allows you to track e-commerce events but it does not replace the default Google Analytics tracking code or GTM code.

This is definitely a must have extension. Installed for 3.0.3.6 + Journal (the last update), also installed modification for Journal 3 provided (you will get it if buy this extension). Awesome! No problems with installation (I followed the guide provided), all orders / products are tracked well; Google Analytics now provides lots of valuable insights. Highly recommended, that is sad we did not have it earlier.

Hi I have data layers active on my website and using this extension as well. I am individually tracking data for Datalayer and Extension Ecommerce in twi different GA. I observe that the extension GA reporting less orders than the one capturing Datalayer orders. Is there any conflict when you have data layer and extension both live on website

does this module compatible with Simple cart module?

VanStudio

VanStudio 5 years ago

Hi,
yes, it does compatible with simple (quick) checkout modules but the stages of checkout (payment and shopping method, etc.) are not tracked because tracking the failure rate for each of them will not give the desired result as all stages are displayed simultaneously and have no stepwise division.
Instead, the quick checkout page is tracked as one step (view in GA report: http://prntscr.com/tcnq77), you only need to enable the Custom Checkout Page option and specify your checkout page URL in the module settings (http://prntscr.com/tcntlv).

Also, there are modules in which the division into steps is implemented, for example - http://prntscr.com/tcnzg3, to track such steps will be required compatibility development.

Hi,
In my analytics, all commercial data on income and goods ceased to be recorded.
I thought installing the module would help, but unfortunately nothing has changed.
Help me figure this out.

VanStudio

Hi,
please check that your orders (http://prntscr.com/sncp8w) reach at least one of statuses selected in the module settings (http://prntscr.com/snco0i).
Also note that the extension tracks the site in real time, ie the results of its work you can see only from the moment of installation, you purchased the extension yesterday so you need to select yesterday's and today's date in the filters (http://prntscr.com/snddey).
If the above does not solve the problem please send a link to your site to my email (info@vanstudio.co.ua) for checking.

Easy to install, but why do the logs show this error sometimes? error: (exc: error status: error)

VanStudio

VanStudio 5 years ago

Hi,
yes, such errors can appear when logs are disabled in this case just do not pay attention to them, it's a bug in the code that will be fixed in the next version.
Also, there may be several reasons for this sometimes error when the logs are enabled, but they also do not affect the quality of tracking.
In your case, the data is tracked fine but when the extension tries to output logs to the browser console, there is another error sometimes appears that is not related to the extension: Warning: unlink(.../cache/cache.catalog.language) (https://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?t=186797) which results in the error in the extension logs.
Note that in debug mode the tracking data is only written to logs but not sent to Google Analytics and also you need to change the JavaScript Position settings to the latest option (http://prntscr.com/slq5ax) because all scripts on your site are placed in the footer section.

Martin80

Martin80 5 years ago

Sorry for the question, I have read the detail of the description now.

VanStudio

VanStudio 5 years ago

Hi,
yes, but the quickcheckout page will be tracked as one step because it has no division into steps and even if implement tracking of each option (delivery method, payment method), as a result the bounce rate for each step won't give correct reports.

Does this track google ads keywords and what keywords got you the conversions

VanStudio

VanStudio 5 years ago

Hi, no, it does not track google ads keywords and everything else related to ads, it only tracks ecommerce events for google analytics (http://prntscr.com/sa4pau) which are then linked to data from other sources (for example, with ads keywords http://prntscr.com/sa4xhd).
In order to get ads data (including keywords) in google analytics reports you need to link your google ads and google analytics account (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/1704341?hl=en).

i have contacted you through the contact us on plugin

VanStudio

VanStudio 5 years ago

I replied to your first request, please check the spam folder.
I checked your site and tracking data is sent to google analytics but results may not be displayed because of recently enabled e-commerce options in GA account settings (http://prntscr.com/sa7wcm), activation usually takes several hours or because of unselected current date (http://prntscr.com/sa7xn0).
