We currently do yourdomainname.com/product1-en and yourdomainname.com/product1-fr. Still what you are suggesting sounds like a nice add on and we will probably add it to the next release of the module.

That would be a great feature. Most of the other SEO mods use that and it helps a lot with multi-lingual support. Hope, you seriously consider that in your next release! Thanks.

Yes, - New feature: Unify URLs - If you enable this option, the links for your products and categories will be unified across all pages, regardless if you are on the home page, the category page or any other page. This will eliminate the duplicate content caused by the small changes in the URLs, which are generated by OpenCart.

Thanks for the quick reply! But I mean specifically the folder setup per language, i.e. a function, that allows each language setup via folders: domain.com/en/product1 and domain.com/fr/product1, so that you can also link to a specific language version of a product.

As far as I understand the unify url function, it eliminates duplicate content by shortening product urls to one valid url: no more domain.com/cat1/cat2/product and domain.com/cat1/product but redirecting everything to domain.com/product (btw. great feature! Needed).

To distinguish languages by url, I need to add to every seo name a language suffix as far as I understand?

Yes, to make sure that we display language friendly SEO urls we add the language ID in the category and product URL slug. As in this example:

English: http://seobackpack.demo.isenselabs.com/en-gb-desktops/en-gb-mac
Spanish:
http://seobackpack.demo.isenselabs.com/es-desktops/es-mac

If you follow both links will take you to the same page but with the selected language as a choice.

Can you do like
IF english was defaut language, it will show url like

English: http://seobackpack.demo.isenselabs.com/desktops/mac
And
Spanish:
http://seobackpack.demo.isenselabs.com/es/desktops/mac

One more, in Vietnamese language it not right
We got product name in Vietname like
Sửa Điện Thoại
and it show url like: Sa-in-thoi.
Some word convert not right: "ử=>u", Đ=> D, ạ =>a but it not show.

English as well as any other language has to show with the language code.

1. Can you explain a bit more in detail, how the feature of canoncial urls work?

Two other questions:

2. How does this extension modify the core functionalities? Are events used to modify the url? I am concerned about 3rd-party extension compatibility.
3. How is multi-lingual support handled? Can I have different seo names for the same product in different languages? Is it possible to add a slug-suffix to each language variation, e.g. xx.com/en/productA and xx.com/fr/productA?

Hello and thanks for your interest in SEO Backpack. On your questions:

1. The canonicals were already partially implemented in OpenCart. What we did was to extend them and added the option to enable/disable them, if this is needed for some parts of your store. Basically the canonical tag is making sure that no matter what additional parameters are added to a given product URL (for example), Google and the other search engines will be able to distinguish the original URL from the duplicates.

2. At this point we are using OCMOD xml files to make changes in the OpenCart core. We are hooking our functionality to basic and generic code in OpenCart, which should not be changed from other modules. Still, if there is a compatibility issue in store and our module is responsible for it, we will gladly fix it for you.

3. This is handled by adding a language string, which contains the language code. It can be appended or prepended to a product slug, however, it cannot be added as a separate directory. Here is how it will work:

- store.com/iphone-en - for the main language (English in this case)
- store.com/iphone-cz - for the second language (Czech in this case)

We are using the Sitemap manager which is inbuilt in OpenCart. Although we are not 100% sure the module should also be compatible to external sitemap plugins.

Unfortunately OpenCart have cached the ratings and the number of sales and they are refreshed once per month. All new ratings done by our users and all new testimonials are getting published with a huge delay. Also OpenCart does not have a system to display how many users actually rated the extension which in our case is 1 user right after our first release which had some problems and lacked a few major features (implemented now).

Hello, what do you mean by the simple blog? OpenCart does not come with a blog out of the box. Nevertheless you shouldn`t be having any issues with any blog.
