Description
Google Translate by VanStudio is a lightweight yet powerful extension designed for OpenCart-based online stores. It enables seamless translation of your storefront into more than 130 languages using the Google Translate script.

Once configured, a language switcher will appear on your website’s frontend, allowing customers to select their preferred language. The page content is initially loaded in the store’s default language and then translated on the fly into the selected language via Google’s translation script. This translation is done dynamically in real time—no translated content is saved, and it lasts only until the user navigates to a different page or closes the browser tab.

Important: Google no longer updates or supports the translation script used by this extension. As a result, translation quality may vary and could differ from results seen on the official Google Translate site. There is no way to modify the output of translated text. However, you can exclude specific HTML elements from being translated by assigning them the notranslate class in your template files.

Admin Panel Overview
The extension can be configured through the “Google Translate” module under Extensions > Modules.

General Tab
✅ Status: Enables or disables the extension.
✅ Multi-Store: Activate per-store configuration in a multi-store setup.
✅ Website Language: Select the site’s default language (as per OpenCart store settings).
✅ Translation Languages: Choose which languages to display in the dropdown.
✅ Start Language: Set a default translation language for first-time visitors (optional).
✅ Multiple Languages Page: Enable if your site displays mixed-language content on the same page (e.g., product description in Spanish on an English page).

Style Tab
✅ Position: Choose how the language switcher is displayed:

• Instead of default language switcher (default)
• After default language switcher
• As module on layout (assignable via Design > Layouts)

✅ Layout: Customize the dropdown’s appearance:

• Theme Language Switcher (uses theme’s default dropdown style)
• Google Simple (uses Google’s styled switcher)
• Google Horizontal (uses Google’s styled switcher)
• Google Vertical (uses Google’s styled switcher)

✅ OpenCart Languages: Toggle inclusion of installed OpenCart language packs in the dropdown (only with “Theme Language Switcher” layout).
✅ Google Translate Bar: Show or hide the Google Translate top toolbar with language selector and “Show original” button.
✅ Custom Style: Add CSS code for styling or theme compatibility.
✅ Custom Label: Set custom label text for the language switcher (optional).
✅ Custom Selector: Manually define the selector for the switcher element if default click handlers fail.

Notes

• This extension uses Google’s legacy translation script.
• Translations are client-side and not SEO-friendly.
