To save Customers time and effort you can install this extension on the customer login page to stay signed in.

Use OCMOD.
Log into Admin > Extensions > Installer and install the extension

Then,
1.Log into Backend
2. Go to Extensions ->Modules
3. Install Customer Remember Me
4. Edit Customer Remember Me
5. You can update the Status (Enable/Disable)
6. Then go to Extension > Modifications
7. then click on the Refresh button on the top right corner.
8. You will see remember me checkbox on the Customer login page

For Opencart 1.5.x versions vQmod is required.
