You are not the only one getting this, I am too.

From a bit of research, it appears it's to do with the "async: false" set on the Ajax requests within paypal.js.

Setting them to true helps but still causes issues as other functions which require the `paypal_data` var to get filled complete *after* the requests.

This should really be fixed @OpenCart

This extension does not work correctly in oc 3.0.3.8. When you click the "Checkout" button and complete the first 4 steps of the checkout process all is working. When you get to Step 5 and click the "Checkout" button, it shanges to "Loading...." and spins - nothing else ever happens.

This extension is not working on my OC 3.0.3.7 with the journal 3 theme I try this and it didn't work

I connect the PayPal (the first time it gives an error but on the second attempt it connects)

I enable the extension

but on checkout, I didn't see YELLOW Paypal buttons or a Credit card option it only shows this option "PayPal (Pay with PayPal, Card)"

and when I checkout with "PayPal (Pay with PayPal, Card)" it shows the "PAY WITH CARD" option, and when I click on it this redirects me to the home page with domain/index.php URL

I also have Paypal standard extension installed on my OC

Installed for 3.0.3.7 connected to my paypal account and everything looks ok in the dashboard.

At the payment method in the cart all I get is a spinning wheel with "Loading"

So no one can complete their purchase.

greatdays

greatdays 2 years ago

In paypal "apps & credentials" it keeps switching to sandbox mode, when I put it into live it just keeps switching back, not sure if that is related to this issue.

greatdays

greatdays 2 years ago

So in the dashboard under general , checkout mode I selected “One button” it now goes past the spinning wheel but I get a pop up window with the following:

PayPal (Pay with PayPal, Card)
Card Number
Expiration Date
CVV
“Pay With Card”

I click the pay with card that button and it just takes me back to my home page.

What "Doc" are you referring to?

SmokeNGun

SmokeNGun 2 years ago

Doc on how to install PayPal. I have PayPal running on my site now but it is an older install. I think the newer upgrade requires more then clicking a button. Do one have insert code into any pages for the upgraded version to work? If so I'm a little worry about inserting code in fear I may screw something up.
So there a doc that walks one through the hole process?
Thanks

Why is Opencart pushing this extension? Can we get some transparency here? Does do OpenCart receive some sort of commission from sales when we use this extension?

OpenCart

OpenCart 2 years ago

There are no secrets. PayPal requested us to create a new extension utilizing their new API. This extension was developed collaboratively by our developers and the PayPal team.

Rainforest

Rainforest 2 years ago

Thank you for the clarification but can you please let us know if you receive any commission from our sales if we use this extension? It's unclear to me.

OpenCart

OpenCart 2 years ago

When you say "us", who are you referring to? As it stands, you are the only one who has asked this question.
If you choose to use PayPal as your payment method, only PayPal will charge a fee; OpenCart will not.

Rainforest

Rainforest 2 years ago

Firstly, I never said "us" I said YOU as in Opencart.
Second. No need to get defensive, it's a simple question. I just wanted to clarification that as I see Opencart advertising this plugin (a lot) that it is not getting any commissions, fees, or any compensation for it's use.
Lastly, who care if I am on the only one asking the question. The point of asking a question is to get an answer especially if it was not asked previously.

OpenCart

You said "us":
"Can WE get some transparency here?"
"can you please let US know"

I believe you have been given a thorough response to your question.

Have just set up PayPal Commerce platform on my 3.0.3.8 store with default theme but have came across some issues.

1. I don't appear to have the PayPal button on the product, cart or checkout page (it is enabled within the extension settings but not showing). Somebody I work with suggested that I would have to enable the PayPal Smart Button but we don't appear to have this in modules.
2. Add a product to cart then go to checkout the option for PayPal now says "PayPal (Pay with PayPal, Card)" select this option, click continue and nothing happens.

I've tried updating to the latest extension and still have the same issue.

Would it be possible to find out where I'm going wrong here. PayPal Express Checkout still works for me.

rumboleon2

rumboleon2 2 years ago

The same here :(
Latest extension is configured over OC 3.0.3.8 but after pressing Payment Method "Continue" button nothing happens.
If you change to multiple buttons to single one, it opens last stage, but when wants to finish the transaction Credit Cart filling modal appears instead of paypal... and the modal doesn't works either.
If you can help us also It would be really apreaciated

I have shown fine on my OC 3.0.3.7. The only thing is that it doesn't take shipping into account when they checkout by using Smart Button which is why I disabled it on Product and Cart page. So far so good on my end.

Can you make the credit card expiration year be 2 digits instead of the full year?
i.e., 02/24 instead of being 02/2024
It creates confusion with many customers who do a lot of online shopping where other systems use the 2 digit expiration date as it is on the Customers cards. Just take a look at your credit/debit cards. They all have the 2 digit expiration year.

glolar

glolar 2 years ago

I have already contacted the support team about this, but wanted to post here, in case someone else has solved my current issue. The version of this extension that comes with OpenCart 3.0.3.8 had a bug whereby the name getting sent to PayPal (and then sent to ShipStation), was missing a space between the first and last name. Installing the latest version of the extension fixed that issue. However, I am wondering if there is any way to modify the extension to pass the OpenCart customer's email address to PayPal, so that PayPal and ShipStation will display the correct email address? For example, the order in ShipStation will show an obfuscated @paypal.com email address (such as 7XH54901MK5302140@dcc2.paypal.com) as the email address for the person that ordered.

Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

I was about to mention this issue as well. I get same thing using this when user tries to pay using quick payment form PayPal (Advanced Card) payment. Please post any ideas or solutions?

OpenCart

Hi glolar,

The PayPal payment method allows paying for an order using either a PayPal account or a Credit Card. If a customer pays for an order using a Credit Card, then you receive such an email address.
