This great Vqmod extension will generate the invoice number as soon as the order is placed.
The module uses the standard Opencart function for invoice number generation, but by default you need to edit the order and click "generate invoice" button.
This extension will generate the invoice automatically for you and will use the prefix you entered in the system for the invoices.
For example if you enter INV-2013-00 as a prefix,the first invoice which will automaticaly generated by the module will be INV-2013-001, after that will be INV-2013-002, etc.
Tested on 1.5.3 - 1.5.5.1, but it should work on older 1.5 version as well.
